Youri opened his presentation by reflecting on the changes that happened over the past few decades in people’s relationship to media. In an age of digital transformation, he questioned the historical role of libraries. To stay relevant, he noted, “libraries would have to rethink their positioning, beyond being a storage place for books”. They would have to open doors to the possibility of becoming, for example, a place for creative workshops, a community centre, or a coworking space. In conclusion, Youri gave some examples of libraries who successfully repositioned themselves such as Salt in Istanbul.
